Süsivesikurühmad refer to the classification of carbohydrates based on their molecular structure. Important disaccharides include sucrose (glucose + fructose), lactose (glucose + galactose), and maltose (glucose + glucose). Sucrose is commonly known as table sugar.

Polysaccharides are complex carbohydrates composed of long chains of monosaccharide units linked by glycosidic bonds. They can be hydrolyzed into many monosaccharide units. Examples include starch, glycogen, and cellulose. Starch is a storage form of glucose in plants, while glycogen serves a similar role in animals. Cellulose is a structural component of plant cell walls and is indigestible by humans. These classifications are fundamental to understanding carbohydrate metabolism and their roles in biological systems and nutrition.
