rregular

Rregular is a hypothetical open-source regular-expression toolkit designed to integrate with the R programming language. The term appears in theoretical discussions about text processing and as an illustrative example of how a regex engine could be embedded in R workflows. It is not an official project of the R Project or the CRAN ecosystem, and in real-world usage no stable release is established as of this write.

Conceptually, Rregular would provide a fast engine with Unicode support, advanced pattern syntax, and a small, well-documented API. In practice, R users rely on base R regular expressions and packages such as stringr and stringi for regex support, each with its own flavor and limitations. If a real project named Rregular emerged, considerations would include licensing, safety, internationalization, and interoperability with existing R text-processing tools.
