Rozumnie is a village situated in the administrative district of Gmina Stara Biała, within Płock County in the Masovian Voivodeship of east-central Poland. The settlement lies approximately 12 kilometres (about 7.5 miles) north of the town of Płock and roughly 100 kilometres (about 62 miles) northwest of Warsaw, the national capital. The village is positioned on the southern bank of the Narew River, near the Narew National Park, a region known for its diverse wetlands and wildlife.

The population of Rozumnie is modest, with census records from the early 21st century indicating a population of about 250 residents. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, supplemented by forestry and tourism related to the nearby national park. Several small family-owned farms produce crops such as wheat, rye, and potatoes, and some inhabitants engage in animal husbandry. The proximity to the Narew River has historically supported a modest fishing industry, and in recent years, eco-tourism initiatives have encouraged guided walks, birdwatching, and canoeing activities within the surrounding wetlands.

Rozumnie’s historical origins can be traced back to the early Middle Ages, when the region was within the boundaries of the early Polish state. The village first appears in written sources from the late 15th century. Over the centuries it has remained a small, rural community, with its development largely influenced by its agrarian character and its location along the Narew corridor. During the partitions of Poland, Rozumnie fell under Prussian control, later becoming part of the Duchy of Warsaw and subsequently the Kingdom of Poland under Russian administration. After World War I, it returned to the reconstituted Polish Republic and has remained within Poland’s borders ever since.

Although it is not a major urban centre, Rozumnie exemplifies the typical rural settlements found within the Masovian countryside, reflecting Poland’s rich agricultural heritage while also participating in the conservation and sustainable tourism initiatives driven by nearby natural reserves.
