Riigikogu is the parliament of Estonia. It is a unicameral legislative body, meaning it consists of a single chamber. The Riigikogu holds supreme legislative power in Estonia and is responsible for passing laws, approving the state budget, and overseeing the work of the government.

Members of the Riigikogu are elected through direct, secret, and proportional elections for a term of four years. The number of seats in the Riigikogu is fixed at 101. Any Estonian citizen who has reached the age of 21 and is eligible to vote can stand for election.

The legislative process in the Riigikogu involves several readings of a bill. A bill is typically introduced by a member of the government, a group of members of the Riigikogu, or the President of Estonia. After passage, laws are promulgated by the President.

In addition to its legislative functions, the Riigikogu also plays a crucial role in foreign policy by ratifying international agreements and approving Estonia's participation in international organizations. It also has the power to appoint and dismiss high-ranking state officials, including the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the Auditor General. The Riigikogu convenes in Toompea Castle in Tallinn.
