Riboszomákkal is the Hungarian plural term for ribosomes. Ribosomes are complex molecular machines found within all living cells that are responsible for protein synthesis. They are composed of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and proteins. Ribosomes translate the genetic information encoded in messenger RNA (mRNA) into a sequence of amino acids, which then fold to form functional proteins. Ribosomes consist of two main subunits: a small subunit and a large subunit. These subunits come together on the mRNA molecule to initiate translation. Free ribosomes synthesize proteins that function within the cytoplasm, while ribosomes attached to the endoplasmic reticulum synthesize proteins that are destined for secretion, insertion into membranes, or delivery to other organelles like lysosomes. The precise location and activity of ribosomes are tightly regulated by the cell to ensure the correct production and localization of proteins.
