retikuloosien
Retikuloosien is a Finnish-language term historically used to describe disorders of the reticuloendothelial system, the network of macrophages and related cells that line organs such as the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes. The term is formed from retikulo- (net-like) and -osien (of the plural), functioning as a possessive/genitive form in medical writing. In older texts it encompassed conditions characterized by abnormal proliferation, infiltration, or dysfunction of reticuloendothelial cells, including certain histiocytoses, storage disorders, and immune-related syndromes.
In modern Finnish medical usage, the term retikuloosien has largely been replaced by more precise diagnoses.
Diagnosis typically relies on clinical assessment, laboratory testing, imaging, and, when indicated, tissue biopsy with histological
