Resinmodifierad is a term used in materials science and Swedish technical literature to describe materials that have been modified by incorporating resin components into an existing matrix. The aim is to combine the favorable traits of resins—such as adhesives, toughness, and moisture resistance—with the properties of the base material, which may be inorganic, ceramic, or cementitious.

In dentistry, resin-modified glass ionomer cements are a common example, where resin monomers are added to ionomer cement to enable a dual setting mechanism: an acid-base reaction coupled with light- or chemical- initiated polymerization. This modification improves early strength, handling, and wear resistance while preserving some chemical bonding to tooth structure.

In construction and coatings, resin modification can enhance substrate bonding, reduce porosity, and increase durability. However, it may introduce polymerization shrinkage, dimensional instability if cure is incomplete, and sensitivity to curing conditions.

The performance of a resin-modified material depends on the specific resin type, its loading, the base matrix, and the curing method; proper selection requires evaluating setting reactions, durability, and environmental compatibility.
