Reseptorisoluissa refers to receptor cells in Finnish. Receptor cells are specialized cells in the body responsible for detecting specific stimuli from the environment and converting them into signals that the nervous system can process. In the visual system, photoreceptor cells in the retina, rods and cones, are responsible for detecting light. Mechanoreceptors are a broad category of receptor cells that respond to mechanical stimuli such as touch, pressure, and stretch. These are found throughout the skin, muscles, and internal organs, playing vital roles in proprioception and detecting physical forces.
