Doppler shift in the returning waves can be used to measure the object's velocity.

Radar systems are employed in a wide variety of applications. In meteorology, they are crucial for tracking weather patterns, detecting precipitation, and forecasting storms. Aviation relies heavily on radar for air traffic control, guiding aircraft, and detecting other planes and obstacles. In the field of astronomy, radar is used to study celestial objects like planets and asteroids.

The development of radar technology began in the early 20th century, with significant advancements made during World War II. Since then, radar has evolved considerably, incorporating sophisticated signal processing techniques and advanced antenna designs to achieve greater accuracy, resolution, and detection range.
