Rádióhullámoknak, commonly referred to as radio waves, are a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum that are longer than infrared light and shorter than microwaves. They are generated by oscillating electric charges, such as those found in an antenna.

Radio waves have a wide range of applications, including broadcasting radio and television signals, mobile phone communication, radar systems, and Wi-Fi. The frequency of radio waves determines their properties and how they can be used. Lower frequencies can travel longer distances and penetrate obstacles more effectively, while higher frequencies are better for transmitting larger amounts of data.

The discovery of radio waves is credited to German physicist Heinrich Hertz in the late 1880s, who experimentally proved the existence of electromagnetic waves predicted by James Clerk Maxwell's theory. Since then, radio wave technology has evolved significantly, enabling the development of countless communication and detection systems that are integral to modern society. The electromagnetic spectrum encompasses a continuous range of frequencies, with radio waves occupying the lower-frequency end. Different frequency bands within the radio wave spectrum are allocated for specific purposes by international and national regulatory bodies to prevent interference.
