Päävuokralainen refers to the primary tenant in a rental agreement in Finland. This individual is the one who has entered into the contract with the landlord and is legally responsible for the rent and the condition of the rented property. When a property is rented out to multiple individuals, or when a tenant sublets a part of the property, the päävuokralainen holds the ultimate responsibility towards the landlord, even if other individuals reside in the premises or pay a portion of the rent.
