Instead, the nitrogen component is removed and excreted, while the carbon skeleton can be used for energy or converted into glucose or fat. Therefore, while protein exists throughout the body, it functions more as a dynamic pool of building blocks and functional components rather than a static stored reserve. Maintaining adequate dietary protein intake is crucial to ensure these functional needs are met without compromising essential body tissues.
