pritshtëm

Pritshtëm is a settlement in Albania, located in the central part of the country. It is positioned in the Gjirokastër County, on the left-bank of the Vjosë River. Pritshtëm lies in a rural area, part of the traditional region of Çamëria.

The name "Pritshtëm" possibly originates from the southern Albanian dialect used in this area, suggesting a connection to words meaning 'hour' or 'time', and a suffix indicated 'location' or'settlement'.

The settlement appears in Ottoman records of the early 20th century as a village, that time consisting of around 230 houses. Then, after WWI, it was relocated to nearby Rivonik. The reason behind this act is not recorded.

Today, Pritshtëm is one of the smaller villages within the administrative border of the municipality of Gjirokaster. There is little to be said about the given economic or gastronomic prospects related to the area. On the other hand, there is mention of certain monumental and architectural points which can be found throughout the village, although further clarification on these points would require more in-depth understanding, the subject of which stays out of the article's purpose.

One thing should be noticed, the area remains less documented in literature and is not commonly a center of commercial or tourist interest.
