Etymology and name: The name Prestaia derives from a Prestian root presta- meaning “to weave” or “to bind,” a reflection of its social and craft traditions that linked family networks, guilds, and commercial networks.

Government and society: Political authority is a council of elders and magistrates known as the Prestates, with a central temple complex functioning as a civic and market hub. Society is organized into artisan, farmer, and merchant guilds; education emphasizes memorization of laws and genealogies.
