Praticabilis is a small genus of flowering plants in the family Rosaceae. The genus contains only a single, widely distributed species, Praticabilis robustus, which has been cited in botanical literature since the late 19th century. The name was chosen to emphasize the plant’s hardiness and usefulness in traditional medicine, as the Latin root “praticabilis” means “practical” or “pertaining to a plot of land.”

Taxonomy and Description

Praticabilis robustus is a deciduous shrub, typically reaching 1.5 to 3 meters in height. It bears small, white to pinkish petals arranged in many notably fragrant flowers that appear from late spring through early summer. The plant’s leaves are broadly ovate, silver-green on the upper surface, and densely pubescent on the underside, a feature that reduces water loss.
