prêle
Prêle is a genus of herbaceous plants in the division Equisetophyta. These plants are commonly known as horsetails. Prêle are ancient plants, with fossils dating back to the Devonian period, over 300 million years ago. They are characterized by their jointed, hollow stems and whorls of small, scale-like leaves. Prêle reproduce via spores produced in cone-like structures called strobili.
There are approximately 15 species of prêle found worldwide, with a preference for damp, sandy soils. Some
