When you send an email, your email client connects to your outgoing postipalvelin (MTA). This server then finds the recipient's postipalvelin and transfers the message. The recipient's postipalvelin (MTA) receives the email and passes it to the recipient's MDA, which places it in their inbox. When the recipient checks their email, their client connects to their MDA to download or access the messages. Without postipalvelimet, the complex system of email would simply cease to function.
