Polarisointilaitteet, often translated as polarizing devices or polarizers, are optical components that transmit light of a specific polarization state while blocking or absorbing light of other polarization states. Polarization refers to the orientation of the oscillations of the electric field vector of an electromagnetic wave, such as light.

There are several types of polarisointilaitteet, including polarizing films, wire-grid polarizers, and birefringent polarizers. Polarizing films, such as those used in LCD screens and sunglasses, are typically made of polymer sheets that are stretched to align long-chain molecules.
