plumbogummite
Plumbogummite is a rare mineral species discovered in 1996. It is a lead silicate mineral with the chemical formula Pb5(SiO3)3(OH). The mineral was named after its lead content and its gummy texture, which is a result of its amorphous nature. Plumbogummite is typically found in hydrothermal veins and is associated with other lead minerals such as cerussite and anglesite. It is often found in the form of small, irregular masses or crusts, and can be translucent to opaque with a grayish-white color. The mineral has a Mohs hardness of 3.5 to 4 and a specific gravity of 6.8 to 7.2. Plumbogummite is not considered to be of significant economic value, but it is of interest to mineral collectors due to its rarity and unique properties. The mineral has been reported from only a few locations worldwide, including the type locality in the Tsumeb Mine, Namibia, and other mines in the United States and Mexico.
