Plazmafehérjék, also known as plasma proteins, are a diverse group of proteins found in the blood plasma. They are synthesized primarily in the liver, though some are produced by other cells, such as plasma cells. These proteins play a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis within the body and are essential for numerous physiological functions.

One of the most abundant plasma proteins is albumin. Albumin is vital for maintaining oncotic pressure, which helps to keep fluid within the blood vessels. It also acts as a carrier for various substances, including hormones, fatty acids, and drugs. Other important plasma proteins include globulins, which are further categorized into alpha, beta, and gamma globulins. Alpha and beta globulins are involved in transporting lipids, hormones, and metal ions. Gamma globulins, also known as immunoglobulins or antibodies, are central to the immune system, defending the body against pathogens.

The coagulation factors, another group of plasma proteins, are essential for hemostasis, the process of stopping bleeding. These proteins work in a complex cascade to form blood clots when a blood vessel is injured. Complement proteins, part of the innate immune system, are also found in plasma and help to eliminate pathogens and promote inflammation.

Changes in the levels of specific plasma proteins can indicate various medical conditions. For example, decreased albumin levels can suggest liver disease or kidney problems, while elevated immunoglobulin levels might point to an infection or autoimmune disorder. The study of plasma proteins is therefore an important diagnostic tool in clinical medicine.
