Philatelists are individuals who engage in philately, the study and collection of postage stamps and related items. Specialized areas within philately include revenues, cinderellas (items that resemble postage stamps but are not issued by a postal authority), and aerophilately (the study of airmail).

Philatelic societies and clubs are common, providing forums for collectors to share knowledge, trade stamps, and exhibit their collections. Exhibitions and auctions are also important aspects of the philatelic community, allowing for the buying, selling, and display of rare and significant items. The pursuit of philately can be a lifelong endeavor, offering continuous learning and discovery.
