Peruskouluiässä refers to the age group of children attending compulsory basic education in Finland. This educational stage is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in general knowledge and skills for all children. The Finnish peruskoulu system typically spans nine years, starting at around age seven and concluding around age sixteen.

During this period, students are introduced to a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, mother tongue (Finnish or Swedish), foreign languages, natural sciences, social studies, arts, crafts, physical education, and religious or ethical education. The curriculum emphasizes a holistic approach to learning, aiming to foster critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and social competence.
