perineaalin

Perineaalin is a term used in limited biochemical literature to describe a putative protein or peptide associated with peripheral nerves in the perineal region. It is not part of standard nomenclature, and there is no widely accepted definition of the molecule, its sequence, or its function.

Nomenclature and proposed forms vary. Some reports hypothesize a secreted peptide with a short signal sequence and cysteine residues; others speculate a small cytosolic protein with no obvious secretion signal. Because no consensus sequence or structural data are available, descriptions of perineaalin remain speculative.

Evidence and status: As of now, there are few published studies mentioning perineaalin, and none has produced reproducible, peer-reviewed validation of the molecule. There are no widely used antibodies, standard detection assays, or knockout models that confirm its existence or function.
