Peraía (Greek: Περαία) is a coastal town and municipal unit in the Thessaloniki regional unit of Central Macedonia, Greece. The name derives from the Greek περαία, meaning “the other side” or “across,” a reference to its location opposite Thessaloniki along the Thermaic Gulf. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Thermaikos.

Geography and infrastructure: Located along the Thermaic Gulf coast to the west of Thessaloniki, Peraía features a long seafront promenade, organized beaches, and a working harbor that serves fishing and leisure boats. The town is connected to Thessaloniki and surrounding communities by major roads and public transport.

History and development: Peraía developed from a small fishing village into a residential and holiday area in the 20th century, expanding significantly in the postwar decades as Thessaloniki’s urban area grew.
