Pekarställning is a Swedish term that denotes the position of a pointer or indicator on a measuring instrument. It is used in metrology, instrumentation and process control to describe the value suggested by an analog gauge, dial or indicator. The pekarställning is typically expressed as the angular position of the needle or as its position along a linear scale, which corresponds to a measurement such as pressure, voltage, speed, temperature or level.

In practice, the user reads the value by noting where the tip of the pointer intersects the scale marks. Accurate reading depends on scale design and avoiding parallax error.
