pehmke

Pehmke is a small borough of the Hanseatic city of Rostock in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is situated on the northwestern coast of the city, bordering the Baltic Sea.

Historically, Pehmke was a rural fishing village that developed into a significant commercial center in the 19th century. The construction of the Klockenhagen dock in the mid-19th century helped to launch the local fishing and shipping industries, with many vessels departing from and returning to this dock.

Geographically, Pehmke is located near the northern shore of the city of Rostock, with the district of B.moves northern parts and the nearby coastal nature reserve Sandhafen Rostock, making the area primarily utilized for fishing and shipping purposes.

Following the strain of World War II, the region, like the rest of Rostock, went through significant reconstruction efforts in the post-war period.
