Partatiivisen is the genitive singular form of the Finnish adjective partatiivinen, which means “partitive” or “pertaining to the partitive case.” In Finnish, adjectives agree with the nouns they modify in number and case, and adjectives ending in -inen follow a regular declension pattern. For this class of adjectives, the nominative singular is partatiivinen, while the genitive singular is partatiivisen and the partitive singular is partatiivista.

The form partatiivisen is used when the adjective directly modifies a noun in the genitive singular. For example, in a phrase describing a noun in genitive, one would use partatiivisen to agree with that noun. This occurs in linguistic descriptions, grammar examples, or any construction where a property of a genitive noun is being stated as “partitive.” It is not a separate grammatical mood or case by itself, but a morphological form that the adjective takes to match the noun’s case.
