parenkyymisoluihin
Parenkyymisoluihin refer to the functional cells of an organ or gland. These are the cells responsible for carrying out the specific activities of that organ. For example, in the liver, hepatocytes are the parenchymal cells that perform metabolic functions like detoxification and protein synthesis. In the pancreas, acinar cells are the parenchymal cells responsible for producing digestive enzymes, while the islet cells produce hormones like insulin and glucagon. Similarly, in the kidney, nephrons, composed of various specialized cells, are the functional units and can be considered parenchymal.
The term parenchyma is contrasted with stroma, which refers to the supportive connective tissue of an organ.
