paraffinet
Paraffinet is a wax derived from petroleum, also known as paraffin wax. It is a white or colorless solid at room temperature, composed mainly of saturated hydrocarbon chains (alkanes) with carbon numbers roughly from C20 to C40. It is produced as a byproduct of crude oil refining, typically through distillation and de-waxing of heavier fractions, followed by purification to remove impurities and colorants. The melting point varies with grade, generally around 46–65°C, allowing it to be melted for molding, coating, or heat therapy.
Common uses include candle making, cosmetics and skincare formulations as a moisturizing base, and protective coatings
Paraffinet is generally stable and chemically inert, insoluble in water, and soluble in certain organic solvents.
