paisuntasäiliönä
A paisuntasäiliö, often translated as an expansion tank or expansion vessel, is a crucial component in closed-loop heating and cooling systems. Its primary function is to safely accommodate the natural expansion and contraction of the fluid within the system as it changes temperature. When the fluid heats up, its volume increases, and without an expansion tank, this pressure surge could damage pipes, fittings, or the boiler/chiller itself. Conversely, as the fluid cools, its volume decreases, and the expansion tank helps maintain adequate system pressure, preventing issues like cavitation in pumps.
The tank typically consists of a sealed container, often partially filled with air or an inert gas.
