Paikantimet is a term used in Finnish linguistics to refer to markers that encode location relative to a reference point. They include both bound morphemes such as affixes that attach to nouns or verbs, and independent words such as prepositions or postpositions found in analytic languages. They form part of spatial grammar and deixis, and they express static location (where something is) or directional information (where something is moving to or from).
