Ozmolaritása, often referred to as osmolarity, is a measure of the total solute concentration in a solution. It represents the number of osmoles of solute per liter of solution. An osmole is the unit of osmotic activity, defined as the amount of a substance that dissociates in solution to yield one mole of osmotically active particles. For example, one mole of sodium chloride (NaCl) dissociates into two osmoles of particles (one mole of Na+ and one mole of Cl-), so its osmolar concentration is twice its molar concentration.
