Oxigénérzékeny is a Hungarian term that translates to "oxygen-sensitive" in English. It describes organisms or biological processes that are negatively affected by the presence of oxygen, or whose function is significantly altered by changes in oxygen levels. This sensitivity can manifest in various ways, depending on the organism and the specific context.

For some microorganisms, oxygen can be toxic. These obligate anaerobes are unable to survive in environments with even trace amounts of oxygen, as it can damage essential enzymes or cellular components. Their metabolic pathways are often designed to function in the absence of oxygen.
