Oxigénszállítása refers to the process by which oxygen is transported throughout the body. This vital function is primarily carried out by the circulatory system, specifically the blood. Red blood cells contain a protein called hemoglobin, which has a high affinity for oxygen. As blood passes through the lungs, hemoglobin binds to oxygen molecules released from inhaled air.

The oxygenated blood then circulates throughout the body. In the tissues and organs, where oxygen levels are lower, hemoglobin releases its oxygen. This oxygen is then utilized by cells for cellular respiration, the process that generates energy for bodily functions. Carbon dioxide, a waste product of cellular respiration, is then picked up by hemoglobin and transported back to the lungs to be exhaled.

While the circulatory system is the main conduit for oxygen transport, the respiratory system plays the initial role of bringing oxygen into the body. The lungs facilitate the exchange of gases between the air and the blood. Efficient oxygen delivery is crucial for maintaining the health and function of all tissues and organs. Any disruption to this process, such as lung disease or anemia, can have serious consequences for the body.
