ovjek
Ovjek is a term that appears chiefly in linguistic and historical discussions of South Slavic languages as a variant or archaism of the word meaning “man” or “human being.” In contemporary standard Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian, the everyday form for “man” is čovjek. The spelling ovjek is not used in standard orthography and, when encountered, is typically in older manuscripts, dialect studies, or philological commentary rather than in everyday speech.
