ovaa
Ovaa refers to the female gamete, or egg cell, produced by animals. These are typically large, non-motile cells that contain the female's genetic material. Ovum development begins during fetal development within the ovaries. After puberty, one ovum typically matures each menstrual cycle and is released from the ovary during ovulation. If fertilization occurs, the ovum fuses with a sperm cell, initiating the development of a new organism. If fertilization does not occur, the ovum degenerates. The ovum is a crucial component of sexual reproduction, carrying half of the genetic information necessary for the offspring. The process of ovum production is called oogenesis. The ovum is surrounded by protective layers that play a role in fertilization and early embryonic development. Its size and nutrient content are important for supporting the initial stages of embryonic growth before the placenta is fully formed.
