Ostosuosituksia is a Finnish word that refers to the pH level of soil in the C horizon of glacial till deposits. These deposits are formed from rocks that have been weathered and transported by glaciers during the ice age. After the glaciers have retreated, their melting brings out particles of rocks that settle at the bottom of the deposits.

Soil in the C horizon, which represents the underlaying material of the cultural topsoil, typically has an acidic nature due to the lack of nutrient-rich organic matter and its conductivity that allows fast leaching of acid-forming ions.

Around Finland, where the mineral crystalline structure results in slow leeching, this layer depending on the initial pH value can provide good conditions for the aging of moose hide (ulin) offering durable treatment applicable for household leather goods. However, soil pH in regions farther to the south in Finland is more unpredictable and would best be analyzed through the test until obtainable reliable results.

In typically more far-north area, this can provide favorable conditions for moose slughterfoods ('peurat') like treats and pulp.
