Osobn is a rural locality (a selo) situated in the Tula Oblast of the Russian Federation, approximately 120 kilometres south‑east of the regional capital, Tula. Administratively, it falls within the jurisdiction of the Venyovsky District and is part of the Osobn Rural Settlement, a municipal formation that includes several nearby villages. The settlement lies on the banks of the Oka River’s tributary, the Osobnyy Stream, from which it derives its name; the term “osobn” in Old Russian denotes a narrow watercourse.
