Osaamispäivät, also known as skill days, are a form of parental leave in Finland designed to support parents in balancing work and family life. Osaamispäivät are available to parents who have at least one child under the age of 14. The leave can be taken in two separate periods, each lasting up to 150 days, with a minimum of 30 days per period. The leave can be taken at any time during the child's first 14 years, but it must be taken before the child reaches the age of 15.

During osaamispäivät, parents are entitled to a reduced salary, which is calculated based on their average earnings during the previous year. The salary reduction is intended to make the leave more affordable for families. Parents can also choose to take osaamispäivät without pay, in which case they are entitled to a tax-free allowance.

The purpose of osaamispäivät is to encourage parents to invest in their own development and to provide them with the opportunity to spend more quality time with their children.
