Omsättningshastighet, often translated as turnover rate or velocity, is a financial metric used to measure how efficiently a company uses its assets to generate sales. It indicates how many times a company's inventory has been sold and replaced over a period. A higher omsättningshastighet generally suggests that a company is selling its products quickly and managing its inventory effectively, while a lower rate might indicate slow-moving inventory or overstocking.

There are several types of omsättningshastighet, with the most common being the lageromsättningshastighet (inventory turnover rate). This is calculated by dividing the cost of goods sold by the average inventory value during the period. For example, if a company's cost of goods sold is 1,000,000 SEK and its average inventory is 200,000 SEK, its inventory turnover rate would be 5, meaning its inventory turns over five times a year.

Another important measure is the kundfordringsomsättningshastighet (accounts receivable turnover rate), which assesses how quickly a company collects payments from its customers. It is calculated by dividing net credit sales by the average accounts receivable. A higher rate suggests efficient credit and collection policies, while a low rate might point to issues with collecting payments.

The anläggningstillgångsomsättningshastighet (fixed asset turnover rate) measures how effectively a company uses its fixed assets, such as property, plant, and equipment, to generate sales. It is calculated by dividing net sales by net fixed assets. A higher rate indicates more efficient use of these assets.
