ogólnemu

Ogólnemu is a form of the Polish adjective ogólny, meaning general or overall. It is not a stand-alone word but a grammatical inflection used to modify nouns in a specific case.

Grammatical role: Ogólnemu is the dative singular masculine and neuter form of ogólny. The feminine dative singular is ogólnej, and the dative plural is ogólnym. Other cases have different forms, for example nominative singular masculine ogólny, genitive singular ogólnego, instrumental singular ogólnym, and locative singular ogólnym.

Etymology: The adjective ogólny derives from the root ogół- meaning “the whole” or “general,” with the suffix -ny. The form ogólny has deep historical usage in Polish, traceable to Old Polish.

Notes: The feminine counterpart in the same case is ogólnej, and the corresponding plural form for dative is ogólnym. As with other adjectives in Polish, ogólnemu must agree with the gender, number, and case of the noun it modifies.
