Obniya is a fictional town and administrative center in the central lowlands of the Republic of Veridia. It is the seat of Obniya District and a regional hub for agriculture and services. The population is about 4,200.

Geographically, Obniya sits in a broad river valley along the Obniya River, about 60 kilometers southeast of Veridia’s capital. The area is flat to gently rolling, with a temperate climate and fertile soils supporting cereals, dairy farming, and timber from nearby woods.

Obniya was founded in the 14th century as a market settlement and gained municipal status in the 19th century. The arrival of a railway in 1892 spurred growth in trade and industry; the town preserved a mix of historic and early-industrial architecture.

The contemporary economy relies on agriculture, small-scale manufacturing (furniture and food processing), and regional services. The weekly market remains a focal point, and a light industrial park hosts several local firms.

Key landmarks include St. Mary’s Church (14th century) and the town hall (circa 1880). Cultural life centers on an annual harvest festival, a winter market, and a Riverside promenade that draws visitors for views of the river.

Government uses a mayor-council system. Most residents belong to Veridian ethnic groups; Veridian is the official language, with minority languages spoken in schools. Public facilities include a primary school, a secondary school, and a small medical clinic.
