Origin and development: The term is a neologism combining object with the suffix -ik; it emerged in scholarly circles in the late 2010s as researchers sought interoperability between museum information systems, archives, and digital repositories. It builds on object-centric paradigms like FRBR and CIDOC-CRM but emphasizes stateful, multi-manifestation representations.

Core concepts: An objekik record includes a unique identifier, descriptive attributes (title, creator, material), provenance, rights, and a history of states or manifestations. Objects can have relationships to other objects (derivations, part-of, is-related-to) and may have multiple manifestations in different media (physical sculpture, 3D scan, image, dataset). The model supports versioning and temporal aspects.
