Nenäsuun, also known as the nasopharynx, is the uppermost part of the pharynx, located behind the nasal cavity and above the soft palate. It is part of the respiratory and digestive tracts. The internal surface of the nenäsuun is lined with pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium, which helps to warm, humidify, and filter inhaled air. The pharyngeal tonsils, or adenoids, are located on the posterior wall of the nenäsuun. The openings of the auditory (Eustachian) tubes, which connect the middle ear to the pharynx, are also found in the lateral walls of the nenäsuun.
