Nahahoolduses is a traditional communal ritual of the Nahahooldari people, a coastal culture in the fictional archipelago of Lirath. The term is said to derive from Nahahooldari words for water and vow, though etymologies vary among sources. The ritual is performed annually at the onset of the dry season to cleanse people and places and to reaffirm social bonds.

During the ceremony, participants gather at dawn for a water purification rite in the central canal, then proceed in a procession to the communal hall where masks, banners, and singing are displayed. A three-beat chant accompanies the exchange of a woven cord that is bound for a year to symbolize carried obligations. A potlatch-style feast follows, culminating in the burning of a symbolic effigy representing misdeeds or misfortunes of the previous year. Elders address the younger participants, offering guidance on responsibility, reciprocity, and communal governance.

The ritual functions as a rite of passage for youths entering adulthood and as a mechanism to reallocate resources and reinforce kinship ties. Variants exist by village: some replace the effigy with a clay statue, others emphasize fishing rights, land stewardship, or ecological balance. In modern practice, Nahahoolduses has attracted ethnographic interest and, in some contexts, cultural tourism, raising discussions about preservation, interpretation, and commercialization.
