Molefrakcióról, often translated as mole fraction, is a dimensionless quantity used in chemistry to express the concentration of a component in a mixture. It is defined as the ratio of the number of moles of a particular component to the total number of moles of all components in the mixture. The formula for mole fraction of component A (XA) is given by XA = (moles of A) / (total moles of all components).

The sum of the mole fractions of all components in a mixture always equals one. Mole fractions are useful because they are independent of temperature and pressure, making them suitable for describing solutions under varying conditions. They are commonly used in describing gas mixtures, ideal solutions, and in phase equilibrium calculations. For example, if a mixture contains 2 moles of substance A and 3 moles of substance B, the mole fraction of A is 2 / (2+3) = 2/5 = 0.4, and the mole fraction of B is 3 / (2+3) = 3/5 = 0.6. The sum of mole fractions (0.4 + 0.6) is indeed 1. This concept is fundamental in understanding colligative properties and chemical thermodynamics.
