Mikroförökningsteknikerna, also known as micropropagation or tissue culture, refers to a group of in vitro techniques used to propagate plants. These methods allow for the rapid multiplication of plant material under sterile conditions. The process typically involves taking small pieces of plant tissue, such as shoot tips, leaf fragments, or seeds, and culturing them on a nutrient-rich medium. This medium provides the necessary elements for the tissues to grow and develop into complete plantlets.

There are several common micropropagation techniques. Initiation is the first stage where explants are established in vitro. Multiplication involves inducing the explant to produce numerous shoots. Rooting then occurs, either in vitro or ex vitro, to develop a functional root system. Finally, acclimatization prepares the plantlets for transfer to conventional growing conditions. Different types of media, such as Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, are often used, and hormone balances, particularly of auxins and cytokinins, are manipulated to control the developmental pathways.

The advantages of micropropagation include the ability to produce large numbers of genetically identical plants from a single parent, which is crucial for maintaining desirable traits. It also allows for year-round propagation, independent of seasonal variations, and can be used to produce disease-free plants. This technique is widely applied in commercial horticulture, forestry, and conservation efforts for a diverse range of plant species.
