Midas refers to King Midas of Phrygia, a legendary figure from Greek mythology. He is most famously known for his avaricious wish granted by the god Dionysus: that everything he touched would turn to gold. Initially delighted with his newfound ability, Midas soon discovered the terrible consequences of his curse. He was unable to eat, drink, or embrace his loved ones without transforming them into the precious metal.
