Meristemových refers to tissues in plants responsible for growth. These are regions of actively dividing cells, called meristematic cells. Meristematic tissues are crucial for the plant's development, allowing it to increase in length and girth, and to form new organs such as leaves, flowers, and roots.

There are two main types of meristemových tissues: apical meristems and lateral meristems. Apical meristems are located at the tips of shoots and roots and are responsible for primary growth, which results in an increase in plant length. This is how a plant grows taller or its roots extend deeper into the soil. Lateral meristems, such as the vascular cambium and cork cambium, are found in cylinders along the length of stems and roots. They are responsible for secondary growth, which leads to an increase in plant girth or thickness. This secondary growth is particularly prominent in woody plants, forming wood and bark.

The cells within meristemových tissues are typically small, isodiametric (similar in all dimensions), and have large nuclei with dense cytoplasm. They lack intercellular spaces and have thin primary cell walls, facilitating rapid cell division and expansion. As cells differentiate from meristemových tissues, they develop into specialized cells that form various plant tissues and organs. The continuous activity of meristemových ensures that plants can adapt to their environment, repair damage, and continue to grow throughout their lives.
