Mentessülés (also known as meteorite impact or impact-exhumation) is a geological process where a large meteorite or asteroid impacts the Earth's surface, causing it to be uplifted and rearranged.

The impact creates a crater, which is initially depressed below the surrounding terrain. Over time, the heat from the impact melts the rock around the crater, forming a ring of brecciated rock. This breccia is a mixture of rock fragments and melt, and is a significant indicator of a shallow impact crater.

As the surrounding terrain subsides, the crater gradually becomes an emergence or a dome-shaped feature. The edges of the crater are uplifted, forming a ring of hills or ridges, while the center remains depressed. This process can create complex geological structures, including uplifted terranes, fault blocks, and fold structures.

Mentessülés is not a widely recognized term in geochemistry, and it appears to be a translation error. The term meteorite impact or impact-exhumation is more commonly used to describe the geological processes created by megascale meteorite or asteroid impacts.
